“Tell us about yourself. We have precious little information…”
I grew up in Reistertown, Maryland and first became involved with theater at the age of 8 when my mother enrolled me in the Towson Children’s Theatre Association. I continued with theater throughout high school and attended Maryland State Teacher’s College in Frostburg, Maryland. In 1968, I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, completing a two year tour of duty at Camp Pendleton, California. While there, I met and married my husband. I had two children; my son currently lives in Florida and works in the golf industry.
My acting career continued in California where I played Rosemary Sydney in Picnic (best supporting actress award w/ Associated Community Theatres in San Diego) and Miss Manley in The Secret Affairs of Mildred Wild (Coronado Playhouse). I moved to NJ in 1979 and graduated The American Academy of Dramatic Arts Evening Division in New York in 1981. Over the years, I have participated in shows in Nutley, Montclair, Fairlawn, Lakewood, and Paterson.
I most recently wrote and performed a one-woman show entitled “On Becoming A Marine” about my Marine Corps boot camp during the height of the Vietnam War off Broadway at the Theatre at St. Clements. Favorite roles: The Glass Menagerie (Amanda) , Steel Magnolias (Ouiser), Nunsense (Robert Anne), Three Tall Women (B), Our Town (Mrs. Webb) I currently work as a Standardized Patient for medical facilities in New York and New Jersey where I help nurses, doctors, physician’s assistants and dental students hone their clinical communications skills. I enjoy spending time with my 11 year old grandson, “C.J” and my buddy “Ghizmo” a 16 y.o. Pekingnese.
How familiar were you with 1776 before joining this cast?
I had heard of it but have never seen it.
How much (or little) do you know about your colony/state?
Not much. It borders South Carolina and Georgia to the South, Virginia to the North, Tennessee to the West and The Atlantic Ocean to the East. The capital of N.C. is Raleigh. The Great Smokey Mountains are in both North Carolina and Tennessee. The largest city in North Carolina is Charlotte, followed in size by Raleigh. Nothing more unless I google it. 🙂
As your colony’s stance on the question of Independency is well known… let us instead pose another, highly divisive question: Pumpkin Spice- Yea or nay?
Yea, maybe. Not completely sold on it just yet.
