“Tell us about yourself. We have precious little information…”
At one point in my life, I thought I might want to be a Cantor, so I guess that’s close… it’s Clergy?
Smile and nod. I’m a high school English Teacher and I love my crazy students, they inspire me every day to do better and to be better. I currently reside in Little Falls, NJ with my awesome husband, Ryan. We have two adorable chinchillas named Petey and Dewey. Yes, I said chinchillas. I started taking voice lessons at age 10 and have been singing and performing ever since! I graduated from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA and then continued to perform and eventually got my Master’s in Teaching from Montclair State University and now I teach and perform when I can! Oh and I’m obsessed with Stevie Wonder. That was really important for you to know, obviously.
How familiar were you with 1776 before joining this cast?
Funny you should ask, I had not seen the show or movie in its entirety until my husband introduced me to his 4th of July Tradition of watching the film version ever year. He genuinely knows the show better than I do. He was so excited when I told him I was doing this, he burst into song (he is not actually a performer but appreciates the arts).
How much (or little) do you know about your colony/state?
Well, I have lived in New Jersey since I was 4 years old. I should know many things. I do not. Not a huge history buff. However, I teach in Paterson, and I know a decent amount about the history of Paterson ( having nothing to do with my obsession with “Hamilton” whatsoever) and I’m a poetry fan, so when you write a poem about the city I teach in, I pay attention.
As your colony’s stance on the question of Independency is well known… let us instead pose another, highly divisive question: Pumpkin Spice- Yea or nay?
Pumpkin Spice has become an American pastime, much like Football, or taking Selfies in front of random landmarks. So because of my love for my country my answer must be Yea.
